Do I need any Primavera P6 experience to join?

No. Basic computer skills and a general understanding of project planning are enough to get started. Module 1 assumes you have never opened the software, and the course builds a complete project schedule from an empty database. An engineering or construction background helps but is not required.

How long is the Primavera P6 course, and when can I start?

Edoxi’s Primavera P6 course in Dubai runs for 24 hours across 12 modules. New groups start every month. If the scheduled batch doesn’t suit you, you can arrange weekday or weekend sessions at a time that works for you between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, subject to availability.

How much does the course cost, and can I pay in instalments?

Is the Primavera P6 course available online, and is the fee the same?

Yes. You can choose classroom training or live online sessions, and the fee is the same for both. Both formats cover the same 12 modules and practical exercises with the same trainer. Classroom learners use the training centre’s computers, while online learners need a compatible Windows computer.

Can Edoxi deliver Primavera P6 corporate training at our office?

Yes. Edoxi offers the same 12-module syllabus as a customised three-day corporate programme, delivered at your office or live online. The exercises can be tailored to your team’s planning work, and the sample project can be replaced with one of your own. Corporate training is quoted per team rather than at the individual course fee.

I don’t have a laptop that can run Primavera. Can I still take the course?

Yes, if you choose the classroom option, where computers are provided. For practice at home or online classes, you need a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 computer with at least 4GB of memory and 5GB of free disk space. P6 Professional does not run natively on macOS.

Will I be able to create a project schedule independently after the course?

Yes. The course takes you through building a project schedule, calculating its network, identifying the critical path, setting a baseline, and assigning roles and resources. By the end, you can create a resource-loaded schedule with a baseline. Ongoing schedule updates, progress monitoring and earned value reporting require additional practice and are beyond the course’s main scope.

Is Primavera P6 the same as project management?

No. Primavera P6 is project scheduling software, while project management covers the wider methods and practices used to plan, execute and control projects. P6 helps you organise activities, dependencies, resources and baselines, but effective planning also requires an understanding of critical path method, earned value management and delay analysis. Edoxi’s Primavera P6 course focuses on using the software; a PMP qualification follows a broader project management pathway.

Which Primavera P6 version does Edoxi teach, and can I open older project files?

The course uses Primavera P6 Professional Version 26, released in December 2025. P6 can open files from earlier versions, although compatibility depends on the file format and the features used. XER is widely used to exchange project data but does not preserve baselines in the same way as P6 XML. Microsoft Project file compatibility also depends on the export format and the software version. If you need to exchange schedules with your office, confirm the required format before transferring files.

I already use Microsoft Project. Is learning Primavera P6 still worthwhile?

Yes, particularly if you work in construction, engineering or project planning in Dubai. Employers and clients may request familiarity with both tools, especially for large projects. Learning Primavera P6 adds skills in activity relationships, critical path scheduling, baselines and resource loading. However, Microsoft Project schedules may not transfer perfectly into P6, so you should expect to review imported data and correct any compatibility issues.

Should I learn Primavera P6 or Oracle Primavera Cloud first?

For roles that specifically require Primavera P6, start with P6 Professional. Oracle Primavera Cloud is a separate product with different capabilities and workflows, not simply a newer version of P6. P6 EPPM is another distinct product, designed for enterprise project portfolio and programme management through a web-based environment. Edoxi’s course focuses on Primavera P6 Professional rather than Primavera Cloud or P6 EPPM.
