Overview

What Does Edoxi’s IELTS Course in Dubai Cover?

Edoxi's IELTS preparation course in Dubai runs for 45 hours: 30 hours of instruction across the four test components and 15 hours of timed mock-test practice. Learners follow either the Academic or the General Training track, which changes the Reading material and Writing Task 1 while Listening and Speaking stay the same. The course runs over 15 to 17 sessions, depending on the batch.

Classes are taught by Greeshma Gangadharan in groups of three to four, in the classroom at Edoxi's Bur Dubai centre or live online, with weekday and weekend batches from morning to evening. Practice runs on the TCY Online platform, with access for six months, alongside IELTS practice materials. Writing is individually corrected, and Speaking is practised and corrected with the trainer inside the live session.

You begin with a mini diagnostic test in the first session and finish with five full-length mocks and a component-level score report showing where each band sits. Edoxi is a KHDA-approved training institute, and on completion issues a Course Completion Certificate. The official IELTS test is booked and paid separately with the British Council or IDP.

What is IELTS?

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) assesses four skills — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — and reports a band score for each plus an overall band. Academic and General Training share the same Listening and Speaking components, while Reading and Writing differ: Academic uses academic-source texts and a data-description Task 1, while General Training uses everyday texts and a letter. Which version you take, and the score you need, is set by the university, authority or organisation receiving your result. Dubai's universities publish requirements by programme rather than by country, so there is no single IELTS score for admission in Dubai.

Who Should Join

Is the IELTS Course Right for You?

A basic working level of English is required. A diagnostic assessment identifies whether you are ready for IELTS preparation or should take a general-English course first.

Applicants to UAE universities

Reach the overall and component scores your programme publishes, not a general target.

Applicants to overseas universities

Meet an offer condition that usually names both an overall band and a per-component minimum.

General Training candidates applying for migration

Several migration streams count each component separately rather than the overall band.

Candidates retaking IELTS

Bring your Test Report Form. The diagnostic starts from your actual component scores.

Professionals applying to bodies that accept IELTS

Where the regulator names IELTS specifically. Some accept OET instead, so check before you book.

Learners moving into test preparation

Coming from general English, where the test format costs marks before the English does.

Emiratis applying to selected government pathways

Recruitment and scholarship programmes that publish an English-proficiency score — GDRFA Dubai, Ministry of Education roles and the MoFA Scholarship Programme each set their own IELTS threshold.
