Overview

What Does Edoxi’s Medical Coding Course in Dubai Cover?

Edoxi’s Medical Coding Course in Dubai is an 80-hour training programme that teaches you to convert medical records, including doctors’ notes, lab reports, and diagnostic findings, into standardised codes for billing, insurance claims, and healthcare records. The course covers three coding systems: ICD-10-CM for diagnoses, CPT for medical procedures and services, and HCPCS Level II for healthcare supplies and equipment. A dedicated AI in Medical Coding module teaches you how AI supports medical coding and how to review AI-generated codes. Practical coding scenarios and timed mock tests help prepare you for the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam.

Training is led by Dr. Shivani Khasnis, a CPC- and CPMA-certified trainer with over 15 years of experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and medical coding. Classes are available at Edoxi’s Bur Dubai training centre, live online, or through corporate training. You practise coding real-world clinical cases using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.

The course helps you build skills for roles such as Medical Coder, Medical Billing Specialist, Coding Auditor, and Health Information Technician in Dubai’s hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, and healthcare organisations. After completing the training, you receive an Edoxi Course Completion Certificate, with an optional KHDA-attested certificate. The AAPC CPC certification is obtained separately through AAPC, subject to its examination and certification requirements.

What is Medical Coding?

Medical coding is the process of converting healthcare diagnoses, procedures and supplies into standard codes used for billing and insurance claims. Medical coders assign these codes using ICD-10-CM for diagnoses, CPT for procedures and HCPCS Level II for supplies and equipment. In Dubai, health insurance claims must be submitted electronically through the Dubai Health Authority’s eClaimLink system, so accurate coding directly affects whether providers are paid.

Is Medical Coding Worth Learning in the UAE?

Yes, if you want a stable, desk-based role in healthcare. Dubai processed about 49.6 million health insurance claims in 2025, up from 43.69 million in 2024, an increase of around 13.5 per cent. Every one of those claims had to be coded before it could be paid. That work is what a certified medical coder does.

Why Medical Coding Skills Are in High Demand in Dubai?

Every health insurance claim in Dubai needs medical codes before it can be paid, and the number of claims keeps rising. Dubai processed approximately 49.6 million insurance claims in 2025, compared to 43.69 million in 2024, an increase of around 13.5 per cent. Across the UAE, health insurance claims grew 15.1 per cent year-on-year, helped by mandatory basic health insurance for private-sector employees and domestic workers from January 1, 2025. More claims mean more coding work for hospitals, clinics and insurers.

Accuracy matters as much as volume. Claims are coded using ICD-10-CM for diagnoses and CPT for procedures, with HCPCS for certain supplies and services. Wrong or unsupported codes lead to denied claims and lost revenue, so providers depend on trained coders to get them right the first time.

Submission rules are also stricter. Since 16 November 2025, DHA rules require Dubai claims to be filed electronically through eClaimLink with complete supporting documentation, which raises the bar for coding and documentation review.

How is AI Changing the Medical Coder’s Role?

AI coding tools are increasingly used to read documentation and suggest codes, and the coder's role is shifting toward reviewing AI output, auditing and handling complex cases. Because payers deny claims where AI performed the analysis without evidence of human review, trained coders remain essential. The AI module in this course is designed to prepare you for that evolving way of working.

What Do Medical Coding Professionals Earn in the UAE?

Medical coding professionals in the UAE typically earn between AED 3,500 and AED 9,000 per month. Entry-level coders usually start around AED 4,000, and pay rises with CPC certification, experience and supervisory responsibility.

Experience level Roles
Indicative monthly salary (AED)
Entry-level Junior Medical Coder, Medical Coding Assistant, Health Information Technician
AED 3,500 to 5,000
Mid-level Medical Coder, Health Information Specialist, Clinical Coding Specialist
AED 5,000 to 7,500
Senior-level Senior Medical Coder, Coding Supervisor, Health Information Manager
AED 7,500 to 11,500

Salaries vary by employer, experience, certification and coding specialty (inpatient or outpatient). Figures are based on self-reported and job-posting salary data and may change.

Top hiring sectors: Hospitals and clinic groups, health insurers and TPAs, revenue-cycle management (RCM) companies, and home healthcare providers.

Companies that have recently advertised medical coding roles in the UAE: Mediclinic Middle East, Metabolic.Health, WeCARE Medical Center, Anaya Medical Center, FMC Network UAE, Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences and Accumed & Fatorah.

Skills employers look for: Beyond entry level, employers usually expect CPC certification alongside ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding, claim submission and resubmission, denial management, and familiarity with UAE payer rules. Inpatient roles often add DRG knowledge, and some RCM employers ask for experience with platforms such as Omega or E4E.
