Interview Tips: What does success mean to you?

Some people think that success is determined based on how much money you have, the level of fame and fortune, the number of houses or properties you have, and other material things. In reality, success is what you define it as and not something forced by society. You define your success by knowing what you want and why you want it.

Many of us do not stop asking ourselves what we want. We follow everyone else’s path and assume we might one day be happy and prosperous, like sheep following the herd. We need to hit pause and think about ourselves and analyze what success means to us. Success is not a one-type-fits-all type of label. It is different for each person as everyone has unique talents, likes, and dislikes. It is an individual concept.

Forget about what other people think about success, and stop comparing yourself with them. Growth is not the same for everyone, nor is it at the same pace. You work hard on your terms to fill your bottle of success on your time. You don’t need to please everyone around you to meet their success objective. There is always room for improvement. With Career Development Training you will have finesse skills to grow in your career.

There is no wrong answer to this question, so when asked in an interview, there is no need to be panic. Say what is in your mind that you see as your success. The best answer depends on how well you can make the answer. It can be completing a project or buying a house on your own.

How to define success in 3 Steps?

The definition of success may seem subjective, whereas the journey to define your success is objective. It is unique for everyone as we all have various mixes of talents. The following steps can route you to determining your success.

Step 1: Discover why success is important to you

Success is something you have to define by yourself. No one else can tell you what it is. Discover why it is important to you and what makes it essential. Answer to questions like:

  • Does your success depend on your professional achievements or personal happiness?
  • How will you feel after achieving your goal? Will it make you confident, strong, or empowered?
  • Will your life be any different from now after achieving success?
  • Does your goal motivate you to move forward to reach your highest potential?

Success can mean a sense of accomplishment in your career or inner peace. It could tell you are doing things you love. It doesn’t mean that you need to prepare for success in your early 20s. Success has no start line or deadline. It begins when you decide to change and lose the hypocritical society’s expectations.

Step 2: Clean out your obstacles

You need to be more driven and persistent to achieve your goal of success. You need the focus to soldier through obstacles and challenges that get in your way. Take accountability for the obstacles and stay on course. Ask yourself whether this hindrance is worth jeopardizing your path to success. Take up the challenge and steer clear from it and rise through. Define your action steps and understand what is holding you back.

Step 3: Take the first step towards success

It doesn’t matter when you start working on your success, or how long it takes. Set your mind to it and get started. You need to understand that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of work and determination, and passion to achieve your success. Don’t measure your success with someone else. Each person has a different path. Focus on your goal and create your own path. If you feel like you lost yourself in the middle of the path, remember, you are not where you started, which means you have made progress. Motivate yourself and try to reach that finish line.

To Conclude

Success means moving towards your specific goals. You should never let yourself down by comparing your success to others. You do not know their backstory or how they have risen through failures. Focus on what is your goal and understand why it is important to you. Find passion in what you do. See yourself in the future and push yourself forward to achieve it. It’s never too late to start and write your own definition of success.
